Transportation Policy
and Government Advocacy
At a national level, AAA actively represents the interests of motorists and other
travelers for fair transportation taxes, traffic safety issues, energy, environmental,
travel and tourism issues. Club experts testify before the U.S. Congress on a
variety of issues including safer highways and vehicles, drunk driving prevention
programs, child passenger safety, graduated driver license programs, and truck
safety. Locally, AAA Arizona Public Affairs is committed to advocating on behalf
of motorists' rights on a broad spectrum of issues, including traffic safety,
teen driving and consumer choice. We remain actively engaged in the legislative
process, monitoring, supporting or opposing legislation that may affect the safety,
security and peace of mind for our members.
Traffic Safety
AAA seeks to advance safety measures and allocate funding to maintain and improve
highways. Club representatives sit on several committees and coalitions devoted
to addressing the issues of traffic safety and motorist rights, including but
not limited to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Council, Maricopa Association
of Government’s Transportation Safety Committee, Arizona Highway Users, the Senior
Mobility Group and the Loop 101 Photo Enforcement Technical Evaluation Committee. AAA Arizona is also actively involved in traffic safety education in our communities,
assisting with regional crossing guard training programs, drunk driving prevention
strategies, teen driving safety campaigns and senior mobility initiatives. In
addition, our traffic safety staff works with schools in the state to deliver
traffic safety messages to students.
Driver Education
AAA Arizona’s Approved Driving School Network (ADSN) inspects and approves the
best driver training schools in the state. You can have confidence in ADSN schools
because they must meet AAA’s standards, including quality AAA-approved course
curriculum and AAA-certified instructors. To find a AAA approved driving school,
e-mail adsn@arizona.aaa.com.
AAA also offers a variety of driver training modules, guides and CD-ROMs,
including Teaching Your Teens to Drive and Driver-ZED.
