AAA Hotel Rates Among Internet's Lowest
Phoenix, Ariz. February 4, 2008 - AAA Arizona members who book a hotel room through AAA.com are more likely to find a better rate there than on other leading websites, according to a recent survey. In a review of several online travel booking sites, AAA.com offered its members the best rate on partner hotels the majority of the time when compared to other online travel search engines.
The survey compared lodging rates from AAA.com to Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz and AARP. The results revealed that AAA.com had the lowest rates 69 percent of the time, followed by AARP, who found the lowest rate 14 percent of the time.
Below are the results of the study and how often each site offered the lowest rates for the 93 partner hotels sampled:
- AAA – 69 percent
- AARP – 14 percent
- Travelocity – 13 percent
- Orbitz – 10 percent
- Expedia – 9 percent
“While no site can claim to offer the best rate every time, travelers who visit AAA.com are much more likely to find a better rate than if they had used a different travel site. They also know that by booking with AAA, they are going to enjoy the same reliability and quality they’ve come to expect for years,” said Judy Santiago, director of travel services for AAA Arizona.
The online audit reviewed rates for leisure travel to top destinations for same dates of stay in a standard double room at 300 AAA Diamond Rated properties throughout the U.S. and Canada. It excluded corporate, military, government and industry discount rates. The survey was conducted by PhoCusWright in December 2007.
In addition to travel discounts, AAA members can save by visiting AAAAZ.com/discounts for AAA’s Show Your Card & Save® program participating locations. There are more than 150,000 participating locations worldwide such as Target.com and Payless ShoeSource and is the largest member discount program in the world.
