Teen Safe Driving Simulator Competition

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9

WHERE: AAA Arizona Paradise Valley Branch Office,
4046 E. Greenway Rd. (40th St. & Greenway Rd.)

Motor vehicle crashes remain the number one cause of teen deaths, surpassing drugs, alcohol, suicide and violence-combined. With high school graduations and end of school year approaching, AAA Arizona Insurance would like to invite teens and parents to attend their Teen Traffic Safety Fair to learn about resources and tools to keep teens safe.

Saturday's event will include:

  • MIX 96.9 FM broadcasting live.

  • A teen safe driving simulator competition with student teams from Horizon High School and Paradise Valley High School. Both teams will be tested on their safe driving abilities using a driving simulator, sponsored by Driving MBA. The team with the best overall driving score will win $500 for their high school's student government.

  • A showcase of insurance options and traffic safety resources.

  • The opportunity to sign up for the auto club's free, award-winning teen driver workshop, Dare to Prepare, scheduled May 14 at the Paradise Valley branch office.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to win various prizes, including:

  • AAA associate memberships

  • Two-hour behind-the-wheel drive session with Desert Driving School

  • Four-hour classroom session with option for permit testing with Desert Driving School

  • Driver-ZED, a computer based DVD software program with 100 live-action situations that help novice drivers recognize and avoid driving hazards.
